About Citrix Workspace app for Windows

Citrix Workspace app for Windows provides access to your applications and desktops from a remote client device using Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and Citrix DaaS (formerly Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops service). Citrix Workspace app allows access from several locations: your desktop, Start menu, Citrix Workspace user interface, or web browsers.

You can use Citrix Workspace app on domain and non-domain joined PCs, tablets, and thin clients. Using StoreFront with Citrix Workspace app, your organization can give you self-service access to your applications and desktops. The app shares a common user interface, regardless of the endpoint device hardware, operating system (32-bit and 64-bit editions), or form factor.

Home page

The Citrix Workspace app Home page opens after the successful sign-in. The UI of Citrix Workspace app is responsive, intuitive, and easy to use. This app experience is available only for customers on cloud stores. The three sections of Workspace UI are Header section, Menus, and Content section.

Home Page

1 - Header section

The Header section is placed at the top and it is shown on all pages.

Field Description
Citrix Workspace logo It is placed on the top-left corner of the screen. Click this logo to navigate to the Home page.
Search Workspace Type the search criteria in the text box. The results are populated as you type search criteria.
Account icon Click this icon to view account settings, navigate to sign out option and see more details about Workspace app.

2 - Menus

The menus are placed on the left side and they are shown on all pages. The menus are displayed based on your subscription.

Field Description
Home The Home page is open by default. Click Home from any other page to navigate to the Home page.
Apps Click to view all the apps assigned to you.
Desktops Click to view all the desktops assigned to you.

3 - Content section

The content section is dynamic and it gets updated as you click the menu or any other link such as View all applications.

Field Description
Apps Displays recent apps by default. Click Favorites to view your favorite apps. Click View all applications to go to the Apps page and view all the apps. From the Apps page, click on the star on the app to mark it favorite. Click Ellipsis or three dots (…) on the app’s tile to view details of the app.
Desktops Displays recent desktops by default. Click Favorites to view your favorite desktops. Click View all desktops to go to the Desktops page and view all the desktops. From the Desktops page, click on the star on the desktop to mark it favorite. Click Ellipsis or three dots (…) on the desktop’s tile to restart the desktop or view details of the desktop.
Book icon It is placed in the bottom right corner of the page. Click to see the Help and Support options.

Apps page

The Apps page displays a list of all the apps that are assigned to you. By default, all the apps are arranged alphabetically.

You can access the Apps page by doing any one of the following:

  • clicking the Apps menu
  • clicking the View all applications link

Apps Page

Field Description
All Displays a list of all the apps assigned to you in an alphabetical order. From the Apps page, click on the star on the app to mark it favorite. Click Ellipsis or three dots (…) on the app’s tile to view details of the app.
Favorites Click to view your favorite apps. It displays all the apps for which you have selected star.
A to Z Click to sort your apps. By default apps are sorted alphabetically from A to Z. Click this option to sort them Z to A.
Categories Displays a list of categories in which your apps can be categorized. Click on a category to view the apps belonging to a category. Categories displayed in the preceding image are for representational purpose. You can see the categories as created by your organization.

Desktops page

The Desktops page displays a list of all the desktops that are assigned to you. You can access the Desktops page by doing one of the following:

  • clicking the Desktop menu
  • clicking the View all desktops link

Desktop Page

Field Description
All Displays a list of all the desktops assigned to you in an alphabetical order. From the Desktops page, click on the star on the desktop to mark it favorite. Click Ellipsis or three dots (…) on the desktop’s tile to restart the desktop or view details of the desktop.
Favorites Click to view your favorite desktops. It displays all the desktops for which you have selected star.

Desktop Viewer toolbar

The Desktop Viewer toolbar allows you to interact with your virtual desktop. The virtual desktop can be a published virtual desktop, or a shared or dedicated desktop. In this access scenario, the Desktop Viewer toolbar functionality allows you to open a virtual desktop in a window and pan and scale that desktop inside your local desktop. You can set preferences and work on more than one desktop using multiple Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and Citrix DaaS connections on a same device.

To access Desktop Viewer, click the toolbar grip grip button. The Desktop Viewer toolbar appears as follows:

Menu Description
Home Click to minimize the desktop session and to go to your home screen.
Ctrl+Alt+Delete Click to lock your computer, switch to a different user account, sign out, change password or to use Task Manager.
Preferences Click to access the Preferences screen.
Full screen Click to access the desktop in full screen mode.
Window Click to access the desktop in window mode.
Disconnect Click to disconnect from the active session.
Keyboard Click to access keyboard.
Shortcuts Switch to different screens or apps within the session by clicking Shortcuts > Swtich Apps
